What we work with

8 things we take, 5 we do not

Both lists are here because the second one saves you a phone call and a fortnight. Beside each thing we take is the number of sessions it usually runs to, what the first session actually looks at, and which of the six would hold it. Ranges are ranges: we review them with you at session six either way.

We take these

With the usual length and who holds it

A session is JMD 9,500 at the full fee and 3,000 at the lowest, so multiply the range by your own band's figure and you have the whole cost before you ring.

We do not take these

And this is where to go instead

Roughly one call in seven ends with us saying no. We try never to do it without a name to go with it, and if we cannot think of one on the call we ring back inside two days with one.

A crisis tonight

We are not fast enough. This is who is, and we are still here tomorrow.

Instead888-NEW-LIFE on 888 639 5433, around the clock, or the emergency department at UHWI or KPH.

An assessment for a court or an employer

We do not write reports for people who are not you.

InsteadA registered clinical psychologist doing independent assessment work. Ring us for two names.

An eating disorder that needs weight monitoring

Not on our own. With a doctor already watching, yes.

InsteadA physician or dietitian first. With monitoring already in place, ring us back and we will take it.

Anyone under sixteen

Our youngest client is sixteen. Below that we are not trained for it.

InsteadThe Child Guidance Clinic, through a doctor or a school, or one of two private child therapists we can name.

Medication and prescriptions

None of us can prescribe. A psychiatrist can, and we work alongside them.

InsteadYour own doctor, or a psychiatrist. We will keep working with you alongside them.

Not sure which of these it is?

"Something is off and I cannot name it" is a normal opening and we hear it several times a week. Working out what it is, and whether we are the right people for it, is most of what the 15-minute call is for.
